CARPC
Introduction
Inspired by some dashboard computer projects on the internet, I started my own project of this type.
On this project I highlight how I made my car's onboard computer. The entire system is an integrated computer console built at the moment on Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, and integrated into the dashboard of my car. The computer is interfaced via a 10.4" Touchscreen VGA LCD display mounted into the car's center console.
In addition, a wireless keyboard / mouse combination is used for text entry. The CarPC has Global Positioning and Navigation (GPS), Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs) and much more.
The following list gives a short overview of the functions, which will be implemented: Navigational information with online update
Tracking and visualizing of car internal information (e.g. driven distance, temperature monitoring etc.)
Multimedia system, in addition to the current Radio/CD system playing CD, DVD, MP3 etc.
Last but not least a simple mobile PC. On this base I can run any programs that will run on an Intel/AMD i686 class computer.
